What is the difference between I've been challenged to obtain
3 bids on a flooring project
and I'm not sure if I should
write an invitation to bid or
a request for proposal. I have
already selected the 3
suppliers, called them to make
sure they actually perform the
work I'm inquiring about.

The terms "invitation to bid" (or invitiation to tender - ITT) and "Request for Proposal" (RFP) are often used interchangeably. ITT is usually for less complex projects where you are primarily request a price quote for a clearly determined project. RFP is usually for more complex projects where factors other than just the best price are involved. The RFP should identify the requirements that you are looking for the respondant to address. I've never heard of anyone being shot for calling an RFP an ITT or vice versa so the terminology is not too important. It sounds like your flooring bid is more of an ITT. |

Do some Federal Requests for I work in an IT department
that has slowly lost its
American-born staff over
several years. There is a Drug
Enforcement Administration
contract that I think mandated
that the employee be an
American-born U.S. citizen,
but he left the company. I
think I am the last
American-born employee in the
small group. We are not as
busy as we were in past years
and I am relegated to many
underskilled tasks. This may
mean that I may have to work
on some technical projects,
perhaps law enforcement or
military related (security).
How many Federal requests for
proposal specify that
contractor staff be
American-born citizens and
what Federal agencies are
these?
I have nine years experience.
And yes, I need to clarify
"born here" to also mean "born
abroad to one or two U.S.
citizens" or "born on a U.S.
government installation"
(McCain). Although Obama had a
Kenyan father he had an
American mother, and moreover
he was born in Hawaii.
Perhaps presuming that tasks
will be divided fairly per
capita is a poor presumption.
My colleague, although with
less tenure, may be superior
at getting attention and
working the training
reimbursement system. I
haven't had training since
2005 and the last time I asked
for training I was rebuffed
and promised a server to work
with I never got.

There is no such stipulation that only American born citizens are entitled for such posts except in some defence establishments. Now that Obama born in Hawaii has become the president , we can expect a totally different scene. |

Where can you find requests for proposals on-line non-profit organizations, like schools? I want to create a tv studio for our school and would like to find someone to help fund it.
